We've had company the past two weeks and I haven't got much done. I didn't even have time to post a new blog last weekend!

But I'm back with a couple of pix. In the first one, the young girl is showing off what she found on the beach. In the second, we see what it is!

In case you can't tell, it's a baby horseshoe crab shell. They found several molted shells, but this is the tiniest I've ever seen.

Beaches are so much fun!

    1. The hand is small so the shell is quite tiny!

  2. I so agree, beaches are so much fun.
You are so lucky ! I miss the beach so much.
I know nothing of this crab, do they grow out of the shell or did the baby crab die or get eaten ?
    So tiny but so pretty.

    cheers, parsnip

  3. I'll try again, hopefully without typos!

A horseshoe crab is shaped kind of like a horseshoe. It molts and grows a larger shell each year. One time we were on the beach and saw ten to twenty shells (most of them quite large, as much as a foot across) discarded by horseshoe crabs during the molting process. Quite exciting!

We do love living near the beach!

  4. I love that first pic!

I haven't been missing but I am way behind on blog reading/posting.

  5. I like it, too. And it's easy to get behind!
