LAGONDA CLASSIC CAR

Going into the grocery store, we spied this classic car sitting in front. We and several others took pix and guessed what it was. A Jaguar? An Aston Martin? No one knew.

As I went inside, an elderly man came out and headed for it so of course, I turned around and followed him. He spoke with a British accent and told us the car had belonged to his father. Tags on it suggested he had brought it over from England which explained the steering wheel being on the right side (wrong side for us Americans!).

According to him, the car is a 1950 Lagonda. Lagonda was a sports car manufacturer in the UK bought by Aston Martin. This model has an engine made by Bentley. As he left the parking lot, it put-putted away!

A beautiful car!

MORE STEWBILEE - OLD CARS

As I said, we spent the middle of the day Saturday at Stewbilee on the mainland. One of the events was an old car show. They blocked off a section of the street and parked the cars on both sides. Took a while to walk up and down them!

This one is a Thunderbird. Mmmm! Love the color.

And here are, in no particular order:

A Shelby Cobra

An MGB (We actually owned an MGA at one time! A fun car!)

A 73 Mustang

An old Ford

NASH METROPOLITAN

Can't get over this little car I see on my way home. Found out it's a Nash Metropolitan, made in the fifties and early sixties. It's so cute cute cute!!! It's parked at an auto yard with a wrecker and I bet it's for sale. If I only had the money to buy it!!!

VINTAGE TRIUMPH CONFERENCE

Went to Jekyll Island this morning to see all the vintage Triumphs. Must have been hundreds of them. Great show!

This picture is of the vendor stand selling British stuff.

These two are of some of the cars. In the background you can see the Moss Cottage in the Jekyll Historic District.

Wish we could afford a hobby like this!
