COLD WEATHER

When we first came down from north GA, we used to see people all bundled up in winter clothes while we were running around with a light jacket or sweatshirt. We'd laugh at them since it didn't seem cold enough for bulky coats and scarves.

But that was in 2005. How things have changed.

The winters started feeling colder a few seasons ago. Last year I actually bought a fake-down filled jacket. Now, with the low temperature in the thirties, I'm wearing it. No, I wouldn't have thought daytime forties and fifties were so cold ten years ago. But this is now.

Guess my blood's getting thinner. Wish my body was!

The azalea blooms that thought it was spring, are dead. The green buds on the trees are calling it quits. The Christmas cacti are having to be taken in or covered up. The birds going north are camped at our bird feeders.

The only good thing is that we have no snow.

CATS

The cats had a good Christmas. Santa brought them a catnip scented scratch pad, but a relative gave them a bed! Okay, it was labeled as a dog bed, but it was still pretty plush. And it was big enough for two!

I draped an old towel over it for protection. (Cats, as some of you know, tend to throw up hairballs, undigested food, and other stuff.) So here they are, cuddled up in their new bed in front of the heater.

Oh, and that's one of my guys' photos they're staring at.

For a day starting off in the low thirties, it's been pretty good. We might actually get out and go get a hamburger or sandwick. Probably some bread and milk, too, since it's going to be cold again tonight.

Brrr. We may have to move further south.

TRAVELING TO N GA

Again. Just as the bad cold weather is about to strike - talk of teen degrees and snow flurries - we're heading north.
,
My guy keeps wondering why the northerners can't learn to control their weather and keep it up there. I keep wondering why we can't figure out better times to travel.

Evidently, we're gluttons for punishment.

The Cold Weather

Brrrr. We are wondering if we moved far enough south.

We went out to eat earlier in the week, on one of the really cold nights. At the Frederica House, they kindly put us next to the baseboard heaters by the windows and we ate our great dinner in cozy comfort.

But as we were rushing inside, this guy in short sleeves comes out. I don't usually talk to strangers, but I was so startled at his coatless state, I couldn't help it. "You're going to freeze!"

He didn't answer, just kind of sneered like, Lady, this ain't cold. and went on to his car

I figured he was a Yankee. My guy said no, he looked like a salesman to him.
